HOW DID I NOT KNOW PING WAS ON TUMBLR. FORGIVE ME, PING! I’m super late on the game, so everyone is following her by now, right? Because everyone loves beautiful things, right?

Today’s Lunch! Inspired by Kali Ciesemier’s blog Kali Eats as well as some delicious illustrations by Rebecca Bradley, and Kelly Lasserre.
Recipe:
1 Avocado1 small can of tuna1tbsp of EV Olive Oil1tbsp of Balsamic vinaigrette or of lime juice1 large tomato, halved, or 1 small tomato
feeds one mildly hungry guy for lunch.
Halve and pit your avocado. Salt and pepper to taste and leave it to the side. Slice your tomato evenly, salt and pepper to taste and leave it to the side.
In a bowl, mix tuna, vinegar, and olive oil together, until all the tuna is coated. add a little salt and pepper (i love pepper). Use a spoon to heap the tuna into the pit cavity in your avocado halves. Dribble what’s left of the dressing in the bowl over the avocado and tuna. Serve the tomatoes next to it and enjoy!
Try adding walnuts, celery bits, golden raisins, or other tasty things to the tuna, or make a traditional tuna salad by using 2 tbsps of mayonaise rather than the O/V mixture. You can also substitute chicken for tuna.
Also, you if you want a tasty hors-d’ouevre for a party, mix the avocado meat in with the rest of the tuna dressing mixture, and serve on sliced tomatoes on top of crackers. They’re colorful, and tasty.

Gant’s food illustration is completely delectable. And his painting skills have always been a huge inspiration for me. Just gorgeous!

The first thing I will tell you is: there’s a zine I’m putting out called Damn Fine Coffee! A Twin Peaks Fan Zine.

The second thing is: the owls are not what they seem.

The third thing is: Damn Fine Coffee! debuts this year at SPX.

That’s right! You may have been seeing some awesome work floating around for the zine I’m putting together: Damn Fine Coffee! A Twin Peaks Fan Zine. I will be at SPX this year where you can get your hands on it and feast your eyes on Twin Peaks homages by over 30 incredibly talented artists.

Damn Fine Coffee! will be going into production soon, and I’ll be posting updates on availability, price, and the possibility of pre-orders (because folks have been asking, which is very exciting) here on my blog. You can also check out my twitter for quick updates too.

Here’s the cover and a quick sampling of some of the rad work you’ll find in the zine by Ping Zhu, Gant Powell, and Ryan Fortney.

The support and the excitement from everybody has been really encouraging so thanks and stay tuned!

Super Villains Show

November 25 was the opening for the Super Villains show at Rotopol Press in Germany and they’ve put up a bunch of great pictures. Looking at the space and all the excellent work made me really wish I could have been there. And it looks like the show really was full of excellent work. You can check out a photostream of the opening on Rotopol’s site here, as well as photos of each piece in the show here. In the mean time I just wanted to share a few pieces that really impressed me. It’s super humbling to be included among this talent you guys. Thanks again, Rotopol!

My man Jimmy is putting together a zine called Bits & Multiples of 8 for video game fan art from the original Nintendo system to Nintendo 64 (Sega + Playstation included), and he’s just put out a call for submissions on his blog! The cover features characters from tons of games (see if you can name them all) and will make a lovely 4-color screen print on a lovely zine full of lovely work. Check it out! It’ll be rad.

kellylasserre:

so, i’m trying to move.

in an effort to not haul around/destroy all of my work from the last couple of years, i have added several originals (and more prints) to my shop. this makes me sort of sad, but not so much if some of these drawings and objects end up having lovely new homes.

check them on out before it’s too late.

ink on dead magnolia leaves. is this “anthropomorphic fallacy”? uhh, too much time down here.

My lovely friend Kelly Lasserre’s handwritten type is so good and so enviable! There’s something really sweet and silly about this that I adore, and all the painted objects she’s been creating just make me so happy.
